Job purpose:
The Assistant Mobile Crane Maintenance Manager assists the Mobile Crane Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of the company’s mobile crane fleet. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of mobile cranes, coordinating maintenance schedules, managing maintenance records, and supervising maintenance personnel. The Assistant Mobile Crane Maintenance Manager works closely with the Mobile Crane Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance with safety regulations and adherence to maintenance standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Mobile Crane Maintenance Manager in planning and implementing maintenance schedules for the mobile crane fleet.
2. Coordinate and prioritise maintenance activities to minimise downtime and ensure the availability of mobile cranes for operational requirements.
3. Conduct regular inspections of mobile cranes to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
4. Oversee and supervise maintenance personnel, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance.
5. Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment history.
7. Collaborate with procurement and inventory management to ensure the availability of spare parts and necessary equipment for maintenance and repairs.
8. Monitor and evaluate the performance of mobile cranes and recommend improvements or modifications as needed.
9. Assist in conducting safety training and ensuring that maintenance personnel adhere to safety protocols.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to mobile crane maintenance.
11. Assist in budgeting and cost control efforts related to mobile crane maintenance activities.
12. Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and logistics, to address any maintenance-related concerns or issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
13. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in crane maintenance is preferred.
14. Proven experience in mobile crane maintenance, with a focus on troubleshooting and repair.
15. Strong knowledge of mobile crane systems, components, and operation.
16. Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
17. Excellent organisational and time management skills to effectively prioritise tasks and manage competing priorities.
18. Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to supervise and motivate maintenance personnel.
19. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
20. Proficient in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software for maintenance tracking and recordkeeping.
21. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
22. Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality maintenance services.
23. Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various work sites as required.
