JobSummary:
Asa Senior Early Help Practitioner you will be expected to organiseyour work independently working to agreed standards to ensure thatfamilies and children receive an excellent service. This willinclude an ability to prioritise work produce clear accessiblereports that are transparent and familyminded.
TheFamily Help and Support Team provides information advice guidanceaccess to multi agency family help and support services as aninternal partner. This involves working with families who may cometo the attention of Children s Social Care where a statutory socialwork response may be less effective or is assessed to bedisproportionate to reduce the risk of significantharm.
This role willinvolve progressing contacts in collaboration with MASH socialworkers offering immediate help visits and making recommendationswhere families need an early help assessment. You will need to beable to facilitate helping conversations that involve families inaccessing the most appropriate supportservices.
This willinclude providing short term family support plans with families incrisis situations. You will contribute to a system of help andsupport that is responsive respectful and effective is crucial tosecuring the involvement of the most disadvantaged to individualsfamilies as early aspossible.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities
Toengage families in recognising the need for change in order toimprove outcomes for their children and work with them to achievesustainablechanges
Toconduct whole family assessments that consider risk factors such aspoor school attendance physical and mental health issues substancemisuse worklessness offending exploitation financial difficultiessafeguarding domestic violence and parentalconflict
Tocreate a whole family plan with families that includes the voice ofchildren and has SMART objectives to address risk factors andimprove outcomes forchildren
Toreview progress of family plans regularly and plan exit strategiesto sustainprogress
Touse evidence based tools that engage families and can show progressagainst identifiedneeds
Todeliver evidence based direct work to children parents and familiesto address risk factors in a 1:1 family or group setting using avariety of professionalskills
Towork purposefully with schools health professionals voluntarysector police social workers and other professionals to achievebest outcomes forchildren
Toact as lead professional and coordinate Team Around the Familymeetings holding others to account for the delivery of agreedactions
Tomanage a complex caseload of families and balance competing demandsas needs arise; ensuring timescales for casework are adhered todemonstrating best practice to other less experiencedstaff
Toprovide written and verbal reports that demonstrate appropriateanalysis of issues and support others in developing theseskills.
EssentialExperienceRequired:
Significantexperience of complex whole family direct work with children andtheir families within an early help context in addition toformulating and implementing effective intervention plans withfamilies isessential.
Experience ofguidance and best practice in work with 0 19 year olds and theirfamilies in respect of early intervention youth justice relevantchildcare and education legislation and the London Child ProtectionProcedures isessential.
Experience ofchild development parenting capacity environmental factors and riskand protective factors for poor outcomes for children isessential.
Experience ofworking with statutory frameworks for education youth justice andrelevant children s social work isessential.
EssentialQualificationRequired:
Arecognised and relevant academic and/or professional qualificationat level 5/Degree level or higher in direct work with families orhave significant experience in complex whole family workqualification isessential.

Working hours:36 hours perweek.
A satisfactoryDisclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level isrequired for therole.
