Design Draughtsman
As a Design Draughtsman, you will work independently while receiving support from our Project Engineering team. You will be responsible for fulfilling design and draughting requirements for special-purpose machinery, taking projects from inception to completion. This includes developing models, fabrication drawings, and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct site surveys of operating areas
* Design and create fabrication drawings for steelwork
* Perform load-bearing calculations and produce documentation for risk assessments
* Refine process layouts and design interconnecting components
* Collaborate with construction companies to determine foot-loadings and utility connection points
* Update and manage "as installed" layouts provided by installing engineers
The ideal candidate will have experience in Bespoke Machinery, fabrication processes, and ensuring compliance with CE marking, machinery directives, and guarding requirements. Proficiency in both 2D and 3D design is essential.
Draughtsman / Designer Job Description:
* Utilize SolidWorks
* Previous experience in equipment and steelwork design and fabrication techniques (minimum 3 years)
* HNC/HND qualification in engineering
* Dynamic, enthusiastic, and flexible approach to work
* Willingness to travel occasionally for site surveys in the UK and abroad
* Commercial awareness with a value engineering mindset
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams
* Proficient in SolidWorks (Weldments, sheet-metal, part modeling, piping, stress analysis) and AutoCAD
