About our School
ISP Whitstable is an independent learning to learn Centre supporting young people to transition back to school following a long absence or to assist with the transition to a new school following a change in placement .
Our Centre is able to support young people returning to mainstream education as well as those with Social emotional and mental health needs.
We provide a high quality learning to learn programme P roviding O pportunities to L earn, A chieve and R e-engage or Re-Start the young person on their educational journey.
Role responsibilities
1. Dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or else a small group of no more than five pupils
2. Supporting the Classroom Teacher during lessons
3. Reporting on pupils’ progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
4. Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
5. Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation
6. Setting work where appropriate, and marking
7. Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
8. Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
9. Previous experience in a similar role ie, Teaching Assistant
10. Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
11. Be experienced and confident enough to be able to lead on a specialism ie, Reading, Mathematics, Forest School etc
12. Experience of behaviour management and techniques
13. Committed to professional development and willing to learn
14. Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work. Any costs incurred will be met by ISP.
