Job summary
This post will support the ongoing success of a peer worker offer within our Living Well teams, specifically for people with Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) who may attract a diagnosis of 'personality disorder'.
Peer Support Workers (PSW's) are people who have their own lived experience of mental health challenges. They use empathy informed by their own experiences to support service users who are accessing mental health services.
You will have an important role in raising the profile and voice of people with lived experience and ensure services more accurately reflect the requirements, resources and understanding of the people who access them. Alongside colleagues, you will support the development and delivery of services within the Emotion Regulation Pathway Short-term Offer. You will also help with the design and delivery of training, of a family and carer offer and more generally with the development of services.
Main duties of the job
You will support the provision of high-quality patient services that are clinically safe, evidence based, delivered cost effectively and meet the Trusts' Standards.
You will work with a caseload providing peer support to people with CEN. The post holder will ensure peer support is delivered in a person-centred manner, enabling people accessing the service and those close to them (who are important in their care), to be involved in treatment decisions.
As a member of the Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust team, the post holder will be expected to reflect the values and key behaviours of the organisation, adopt the policies and philosophy of the service and provide interventions based on the recovery philosophy.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to be able to work with teams as well as on your own initiative are essential.
