Role Overview:
As Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for preparing wages and salaries for approximately 450 employees across 10 sites, managing both weekly and monthly payrolls. The role involves ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, enhancing payroll IT systems, and leading a high-performing payroll team.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Accurately prepare wages and salaries for timely payment.
2. Develop and improve payroll systems such as UKG and Sage to enhance efficiency.
3. Lead and manage the payroll team, overseeing their workload and development.
4. Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and statutory payments (e.g., SMP, SPP).
5. Run weekly and monthly payrolls using Sage 50.
6. Manage BACS transfers for payments to employees and HMRC.
7. Maintain employee attendance records and manage the company's Auto-Enrolment pension scheme.
8. Resolve employee payroll queries promptly and assist with payroll-related computer system implementations.
Person Specification:
1. Proven experience in computerized payroll processing, including PAYE and National Insurance liabilities.
2. Strong communication, numeracy, and written skills.
3. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
4. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines with accuracy.
5. Commitment to the highest level of confidentiality.
6. Desirable: Payroll qualifications.
