Construction teacher/programme lead required for special needs school starting asap
Zen Educate are currently looking for a unique person to teach students aged 16 and over in construction at a special needs school in West Bristol on a full time and long term basis. The school caters to students with mental health issues and those from trauma and offers them a bespoke learning environment that focuses more on active learning rather than sat in a classroom. The aim with this course is to give students skills to enter the workplace of construction.
We are looking for someone that has experience and knowledge of the construction industry as well as having experience working with students. Qualified teacher status is not essential for this post. The ideal person will be resilient, supportive and encouraging to students as well able to keep a calm head when dealing with any behaviour challenges.
Working hours are 8:30-4, Monday to Friday and term time only. Due to the nature of the site, they are only able to consider those with access to a car.
Requirements;
- Experience in construction.
- Knowledge of the BTEC curriculum around construction, but this is not essential and can be learned on the job.
- Experience in working with students or teaching others on the standard practices within the construction industry
- Able to adopt the schools ideals in supporting and encouring students to learn and be successful once they enter the work place.
- You must be reliable and consistent, more vulnerable students really rely on routine so its important that the school has someone that can really be there everyday.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service is required to work with students, this can be applied for on application if you don't currently have one.
