Salary: Grade 4 - Starts at £24,921 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £27,351 per annum

Starting salary for 15 hours per week is £10,103 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £11,088 per annum. (Full time equivalent is £24,921 to £27,351 per annum).
No annual leave will be approved due to the essential training required for the role - dates when no leave will be approved to be advised when appointment is confirmed.
Your training will take place at Police Headquarters, Middlemoor, Exeter. So you must be willing and able to travel to Exeter for the duration of the course, regardless of your base station.

The role includes:
1. being the first point of contact for reported crimes and incidents of a policing nature coming to the front offices and via 101 and other non-urgent means,
2. providing an initial response to a wide range of enquiries from the public and other agencies, which may include offering advice, information and guidance on legislation, policing responsibilities, and police complaints and, where appropriate and necessary, ‘signposting’ to partner agencies,
3. receiving and recording information appropriately and accurately,
4. dealing supportively and reassuringly with witnesses, victims, and the general public escalating to other police resources where appropriate.
The Police Enquiry Office will be open from Monday to Saturday.

What we are looking for from applicants

Initial training
There will the requirement for successful candidates to:
22. Attend an initial induction course, which will be a full two weeks (37 hours each week) plus additional courses thereafter as required.
23. You will be required to travel to other Stations, regardless of your base station, for further training.
24. You will be able to claim overtime for these additional hours for training purposes.
Please be aware that there may also be a need for the days, hours and locations to be adjusted to accommodate training during this initial period; as such, a degree of flexibility is required.
