Equans is looking for an Assistant Drainage Engineer to join our team in our North East Lincolnshire Partnership in Grimsby on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary between £26, £29, depending on experience, and benefits package.

What will you deliver?
1. Duty to assist, under the guidance of an Engineer, in the investigation of flooding, drainage and coastal defense problems in the Borough of North East Lincolnshire.
2. Assist, under the guidance of an Engineer, with identifying solutions to technical problems including the development of feasibility studies and outline designs
3. Assist in the inspections and monitoring required for the delivery of the local flood risk management strategy.
4. Will be expected to assist the Engineers in the delivery of flood risk management capital works in line with the requirements of the local FRM strategy. This will include site surveys and assisting the engineers in data gathering and scheme development.
5. Assist in the maintaining of a register of structures and features with an effect on flood risk
6. Working towards the development of an understanding of the basic legislation relating to flood risk management, highway drainage, land drainage and coastal defense responsibilities
7. Will accompany the Engineer in the supervision of contractors carrying out drainage, coastal defense and oil pollution response works to ensure that works are undertaken in accordance with approved plans and relevant specifications.
8. Occasional contact with operational staff of other drainage agencies including Internal Drainage Boards, Anglian Water and the Environment Agency.
9. Contact with other officers in Equans and our partners NELC requesting assistance with drainage problems.
10. Contact with residents, local businesses and other parties affected by drainage problems. This will include property occupants and landowners who may well be unaware of their own responsibilities for drainage. Requests for drainage and coastal defense information will also be received frequently.
11. Assist in surveys using optical and electrical theodolites, levels and workstations, including GPS, accurately transferring collected data to plans and drawings for use in the design and construction process.

Who are we looking for?
23. Some basic knowledge within the specific team disciplines of drainage and coastal defences.
24. Ability to understand and act on instruction from senior staff
25. Team working skills
26. Ability to access sites alone, some of which will be in remote locations
27. Ability to attend meetings alone
28. Working or willingness to work towards ONC in Civil Engineering or associated discipline
29. Intermediate IT skills
30. Effective written and verbal communication skills
