Sustainability Consultant / Energy Assessor – Hybrid Working (Cheshire-Based)

Role Summary
As an Energy Assessor, you’ll be instrumental in the delivery of building compliance and sustainability assessment services. Your core responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting SAP assessments, SBEM/DSM calculations, and overheating and daylighting calculations.
2. Performing U-value calculations and preparing energy statements for planning applications.
3. Offering technical support to clients and delivering accurate, timely reports that align with regulatory standards.
4. Working on both planning and technical reporting for diverse sustainability projects.
Responsibilities
Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll contribute to the end-to-end management of client engagements, ensuring projects meet compliance and sustainability standards. Key tasks include:
5. Performing energy assessments (SAP, SBEM, DSM, Part L, and net-zero strategies).
6. Conducting building modelling (using software such as Design Builder) and lifecycle assessments (optional).
7. Advising clients on compliance strategies and methodologies to meet building regulations and sustainability goals.
8. Managing client relationships and identifying service opportunities.
About You
The role suits both experienced candidates and recent graduates. For recent graduates, the company welcomes applications from those with a degree in a relevant built environment discipline and a passion for energy and sustainability. Essential qualities include:
9. Familiarity with or interest in SAP/SBEM/DSM energy modelling and regulatory frameworks.
10. A strong desire to learn building energy modelling software such as Design SAP, Design Builder, or IES.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical findings clearly.
12. Relevant experience or keen interest in energy consulting within the built environment sector.
