Ready for a change? Can you demonstrate good technical skills? Do you command the respect and trust of colleagues and clients? Are you a problem solver? If so, then we want you to join our growing friendly, supportive and well respected team.
The Practice
Legal Services Lincolnshire (LSL) is a shared legal service hosted by the county council, offering legal advice to the county council, to six of the county's district and borough councils as well as other public sector clients. We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer for our adult care team who has a passion for local authority work.
The role and area of law
Adult care law involves Court of Protection proceedings, Safeguarding work, Mental Health applications and advice on all aspects of the Care Act 2014. You will be joining a small team of lawyers and legal officers who are responsible for providing timely legal advice in often sensitive and complex cases including conducting court proceedings on behalf of the client(s). This area of work is undergoing significant legal reform and policy change and it is therefore a very exciting time to join the team. Ideally we are looking for a solicitor, barrister or Legal Executive who has experience in this field however we may consider candidates who can evidence good transferable skills (including advocacy) to move into this growing and ever evolving area of the law. No two days are the same.
About you
You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, ideally with experience in this field of law. Applications may be considered if you do not have legal experience of working and advising in this area of the law but you are able to demonstrate transferable legal skills (including advocacy) with experience in working in a legal environment/office. If you have the right skills, attitude and a passion for the role we will help you develop the rest. You will be well supported and we guarantee you will find this a professionally rewarding and fulfilling role!
Whilst the team benefit from hybrid working, at the start of any appointment a Lawyer (unless highly experienced in this area of law) will be required to spend more time in the office to learn role and responsibilities and to become competent in the tasks they need to complete. As the appointment progresses there will be opportunities to have some time working from home once a level of competency has been achieved. Thereafter there is a requirement for all members in the team to attend the office one day a week for a team day. The successful candidate may also need to attend additional days in the office if there is a business need.
What we offer
