We have an exciting new opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to be responsible for overseeing our Health and Safety practices across our site.
Role Summary:
In summary the role will oversee the health and safety policies, procedures and practices of the company to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice. To develop and maintain a continuous improvement ethos, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment, and minimising the environmental impact of the company’s operations.
The main duties will include:
* Driving culture change/reinforcement of a good safety culture, creating the forums and opportunities to involve and communicate with employees
* Working in conjunction with site management to drive the Safety agenda
* Implementing and gaining accreditation of ISO 14001
* Advising the board and senior management on safety, health and environmental matters
* Setting strategic health and safety objectives and reporting to the board and senior management on company health and safety issues
* Undertaking regular company health and safety training needs analysis identifying critical gaps of capability
* Conducting regular site audits and inspections, reporting non-compliance and hazardous conditions
* Formulating a risk assessment programme across the site
* Undertaking health and safety accident and incident investigation
* Liaising with company stakeholders regarding safety, health and environmental e.g. Health and Safety Executive, Fire Authorities, insurance companies, local councils and the Environment Agency
The person we are looking for:
* The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent) and relevant experience.
* An IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management is desirable
* Food industry experience preferred
* Experience within a manufacturing environment
* Considerable experience in Factory Safety and Environmental Management
