We are pleased to offer a full-time opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Secretary to join our friendly and supportive Clinical Administration Secretarial Team within Cardiology.
Medical Secretaries play a vital role in supporting our Clinicians in the delivery of excellence. With excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail, you will transcribe clinical correspondence, add patients to the waiting list, and input data, among other essential tasks. As a good communicator, you will convey clear information to both internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
The team supports the Trust from two locations: Royal Papworth Hospital (Biomedical Campus, Cambridge) and Kingfisher House (Huntingdon). This post will be based at Royal Papworth Hospital but will require attendance at Kingfisher House. Once trained, there will be an opportunity to work remotely for part of the week.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties include:
1. Tracking patients through the pathway
2. Adding patients to the waiting list
3. Communication with patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary teams
4. Diary management
5. Referral to Treatment (RTT)
Following training you will have:
1. Knowledge of administrative systems
2. Good understanding of the relevant patient information systems to carry out the role
3. Good understanding of Referral to Treatment (RTT)
4. Ability to input data carefully into the relevant patient systems
5. Minute taking training
Abilities should include:
1. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
2. Excellent computer skills, with the ability to operate a specialist database (following training)
3. Initiative to manage and prioritise your duties
4. Ability to work alone or as part of a team
5. Attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage
6. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality secretarial and administrative support
7. Ability to organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in relation to the department's priorities
8. Demonstrates personal duty of care in relation to the safe use of equipment and other resources
9. Maintains quality in own work and encourages others to do so

Qualifications
* Keyboard skills to RSA Level 2/3 or equivalent
* European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent qualification or experience
* Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in Administration or Customer Service
Experience
* Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
* Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems
* Previous experience of working in an office environment
* Previous experience of minute taking
* Previous experience of audio-typing
* Ability to communicate sensitive information to colleagues, patients, and relatives
* Ability to pay close attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality secretarial and administrative support
