Join Our Clients Global Team as the Purchasing Manager - Hybrid - Permanent - £45k plus bonus.
Based in Blackburn, Lancashire, our manufacturing client has a global reach with multiple award-winning products.
Overview
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, negotiating with suppliers to secure the best deals, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the timely delivery of products, materials, and services.
Your key responsibilities:
1. Purchase goods, materials, components, and services in accordance with specified technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
2. Analyse market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
3. Responsible for purchasing capital equipment, working closely with all related departments.
4. Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers.
5. Sourcing and introduction of new suppliers, developing current specifications, and supplier evaluation and approval.
6. Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
7. Interface with other departments and suppliers for all matters related to the procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
8. Monitor, review, and maintain inventory levels in accordance with business needs, managing material flow with suppliers and internal customers.
9. Monitor and control requests for purchases against existing purchase limits.
10. Travel abroad as required to carry out duties connected with the role.
11. Participate in internal and supplier audits.
12. Review and improve purchasing practices and standards, developing working procedures and documentation to implement improvements.
13. Reject materials back to suppliers, obtain CAPAs from suppliers, and remove material from stock once accepted by the supplier.
14. Update the company risk register for the purchasing function and work closely with suppliers to mitigate those risks.

Development & Learning
The post holder will be expected to develop their understanding of new technologies by undertaking training when requested.
Education & Training
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) preferred but not essential.
A recognised qualification in manufacturing or supply chain management.
Full range of computer skills.
Key Capabilities & Skills:
* Minimum of 3 years purchasing experience, preferably in a large manufacturing company.
* Knowledge of contract law and legislation/documentation relating to purchasing from overseas.
* Experience with MRP Systems.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Sound organisational skills.
* Excellent negotiation skills; able to liaise with suppliers and internal personnel at all levels with an ability to influence.
* Able to work within a team environment.
* High level of attention to detail.
