We are currently recruiting for a Production Coach looking to join our fantastic team here at our Tunstead Quarry, close to Buxton in Derbyshire. The role is easily commutable from Buxton, Macclesfield, Stockport, Dronfield, Manchester, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Leek, Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Production Coordinator, you as the Production Coach will be responsible for developing the skills and understanding of the Plant’s production teams by improving the process performance by driving adherence to operating practices.
You will be instrumental in driving operational stability to achieve the quality targets for clinker and cement, maximising fuel and energy efficiencies whilst maintaining good performance and reliability. This will be achieved by standardising the approach of all operators and closely monitoring performance. It is important that the operating skills and development are in line with the plant and Company strategies.
Additionally, you will be a key colleague in the management and maintenance of the operators training and certification and qualification programme and being the owner of the plants SOP database.
Responsibilities for this role will include (not exhaustive):
1. Contribute to the delivery of the plant safety systems
2. Act as a coach and mentor to Control Room Operators (CROs) and other operations staff, with focus in the area of clinker and cement production, to optimise plant performance
3. Provide an interface between CROs and the Optimisation, Production, Maintenance and Project Teams to help ensure that the implications of any operating changes are fully understood by all parties
4. Work in liaison with Production Management, set direction for the CRO’s to ensure consistency, in terms of plant operation
5. Review plant operational performance on a 24hr basis to understand if all the correct actions have been taken by the CRO to maintain stability and control, report back to the Production and Process team on the findings and create an action plan to resolve any issues. Ensure any findings are used to develop the CROs skills
6. Be responsible for collecting and reviewing the data collected by shift teams on the CRO log sheets
7. Own the development and management of the Plant’s Standard Operating Procedures
8. Responsible for developing and coordinating the training programmes for, and assessment of, Trainees, CRO’s, and be the custodian of training documentation and certificates
9. Provide training sessions as required and be responsible for utilising any new training tools, for which extensive training will be given
10. Identify and plan ongoing CRO development using performance monitoring tools and provide support into the performance review process.
11. Responsible for the appropriate level of knowledge and awareness of the shift teams on the quality procedures, as well as their observation across the shifts
12. Contribute to plant cross functional meetings with involvement in Production targets, collaborating and proposing ideas to achieve or improve them
The fundamental in the role of Production Coach is to be able to provide flexibility, knowledge and determination to drive the plant forward into the future.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role of Production Coach, you as the ideal candidate you will also be able to demonstrate proven experience working within a Cement, Chemical, mining, quarrying, heavy industrial industry, or a similar environment with a strong can-do safety approach. As well as being able to demonstrate strong IT and communication skills.
Specific Requirements:
13. HNC or equivalent qualification would be highly beneficial
14. Good appreciation of chemistry and physics of cement/chemical making process
15. Training/Coaching certification or qualification would be highly beneficial
16. Good understanding of Operational matters - safety, environment, quality, plant design, maintenance and production KPI’s
17. A practical expert on Kiln and Milling operations
18. Technical writing ability
19. Ability to write and implement Standard Operating Procedures
20. Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental standards
21. Detailed and thorough approach to performance monitoring
