As our Senior Content Designer, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the fastest growing deep technology in the world. It has the potential to change the way we work and as a result, Corporate Technology are building a new team to enable the use of AI in our everyday work. The team will be responsible for developing and deploying AI solutions across the organisation, from automating business processes to enhancing end user experience. We are looking for a Senior Content Designer to join this team to develop content which makes generative AI and our deployed complex products and services easier for people to understand and use.
The Senior Content Designer will form part of our user-centred design community at the Met Office, advocating for evidence-based content creation and user-centred design best practices.
Your key duties:
As a Senior Content Designer will be responsible for creating, evaluating, updating and reviewing (continuously improving) the content strategies and solutions for complex generative AI products and services. Effectively turning complex information into simple, accessible content.
You will be a confident and competent editor who will create and review content, and use multimedia effectively, to ensure the appropriate content is shown to users. You will ensure the generative AI content is provided to people in the right place and in the best format. You will create and iterate style guidelines, promote consistency, and champion user-centred design practices across multidisciplinary teams, helping them to visualise the outcomes.
Working within the generative AI team you will be responsible for creating accessible content as generative AI solutions are implemented and supporting the wider strategy from a content perspective. You will ensure content is understandable, meeting both accessibility standards and user needs.
You will be an advocate for evidence-based content creation which meets the organisational need. You will be able to gather user evidence where required and apply this evidence to your content design. You will negotiate with and influence senior stakeholders to ensure they have the right resources to support their strategic vision.
Generative AI is a fast-paced, evolving, agile environment, requiring an iterative and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery of high priority content. This role also demands the ability to handle challenging situations and tight deadlines with poise and efficiency. You will be supporting multiple generative AI initiatives at one time, and you lead on the overall ownership for the assets created and distributed while assuring quality.

As our Senior Content Designer, your total reward package will be up to £58,419 annually, which includes:
£41,725 base pay
An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

User-centred content design: Expert practitioner who creates content strategy and solutions for complex services and assures the quality of content (We're experts by nature).
Impactful content creation : Design content that inspires and excites users to adopt new services. Lead and direct strategic content, focusing effort in the areas of greatest priority and ensuring goals are met.
User focus: Champion user-centred design by understanding the range of different users who might access content and services. Choose the most effective format to make content understandable based on evidence while ensuring the content meets accessibility requirements.
Use of style guidelines and content patterns: Contribute to and use style guidelines and content patterns to ensure consistency with a company's tone of voice and visual brand.
Stakeholder relationship management and collaborative work : Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create content. Build long-term strategic relationships with stakeholders and negotiate with and influence them to ensure they have the right resources to support their strategic vision (We're better together).
Agile mindset: Display an agile mindset, promoting continuous improvement and focusing effort in areas of greatest priority in a fast-paced environment (We keep evolving).
