Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Town Planner with 1-3 years of experience to join the team in Reading. As a Town Planner, you will play a key role in supporting senior planners and contributing to a wide range of planning projects. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning Applications: Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications, including managing the process from inception to determination.
2. Research & Analysis: Conduct research on planning policy, local development plans, and other relevant documentation to inform project strategies.
3. Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to provide updates and gather necessary information.
4. Report Writing: Prepare high-quality reports, including planning appraisals, design and access statements, and planning statements.
5. Project Management: Support the management of projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget.
6. Community Engagement: Assist in organizing and participating in public consultations and community engagement activities.
7. Policy Monitoring: Keep up-to-date with changes in planning policy and legislation and assess the implications for current and future projects.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Education: A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. A master's degree and/or RTPI accreditation (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
2. Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, or similar environment.
3. Knowledge: Good understanding of the UK planning system, including relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
4. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
