About the role
As a Contract Officer, you will be at the forefront of our Transmission Network Control Centre (TNCC) working with Control Room Leadership/Engineers, DNO's, Generators, NESO, vendors, and key internal/external Stakeholders to deliver the best experience for our customers and internal business users. You will own and be fully accountable for all the critical support contracts that we have to run the Control Room.
As Contract Officer, you will be responsible for providing a wholistic contract management service. You will take ownership managing a wide range of Licensed/ Unlicensed operational and digital service/ support contracts relating to TNCC control room activities. You’ll be accountable for developing and managing our Network Operations related contracts. Providing contract expertise, you will manage contract related finances and ensure our business contracts are aligned to standards and fit for purpose.
You will lead on aggregating regular interaction with our business leads, customers, stakeholders, and vendor/supplier contractors, managing scheme/project issues to challenge contractor deliverables in all areas of performance, helping to revolutionise and decarbonise the future of energy.
Working collaboratively across the business you’ll ensure we achieve safe and cost-effective contract delivery.
You’ll develop KPI’s that monitor and drive contract performance, ensuring compliance and continuous improvements against agreed KPI’s. Working alongside the control room, key stakeholders/ customers, and our digital partners, you’ll support with the development of innovative solutions which enable us to meet our objectives.
What you'll be doing
* Manage Control Room related IT support/ MSA / Vendor support and associated facilities contracts, ensuring cost effective delivery and performance.
* Interface with finance teams, tracking all contracts Network Control hold.
* Own and manage:
o Licensed ‘DNO Operational switching’ Business Contracts, ensuring accurate data and developing the methodology and process needed to manage our licensed DNO switching contracts.
o Unlicensed ‘TNCC services’ Business Contracts including CPO/CPS operational service contracts and associated RISSP training opportunities.
o Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Multi User Switching (MUS) agreements with DNOs, Generators and connecting customers.
o Own price models and interface with ESC to develop and agree unlicensed business opportunities for TNCC operational and RISSP training services.
* Assist with identifying and calculating process, service, project and component costs for financial planning and budgeting.
* Support management to ensure commercial, contract and financial processes and procedures are adhered to, and contract compliance through effective contract management activities.
* Ensure that appropriate challenge and review has been applied to project costs through benchmarking and cost assurance activities.
* Support the development of appropriate reporting structure to capture all elements of contractor performance and ensure consistency of reporting of these across the contract function.
* Identify and implement opportunities to further develop the suite of benchmarking tools to support the continuous improvement of contractor performance.
* Provide contract support, advice, guidance, and contract management training to the wider Resilience Team as required and where appropriate the Contracting Partners.
About You
Essential:
* Minimum requirement is HNC/D level (or equivalent) in relevant subject.
* Demonstrate experience in contract development, agreement & management (ideally within the Electricity Industry).
* Experience in finance budget management and reporting.
* Good commercial acumen, including procurement and supply chain experience / knowledge.
* Able to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and problem solving.
* Ability to bring creative and innovative new approaches to the business.
* Experienced Stakeholder Management, both internal and external to the organisation, able to present information and build strong relationships to work collaboratively across business.
* Excellent IT skills with proven competency in Word/Excel/ PowerBi etc, able to manage complex data and produce accurate and meaningful analysis/ reports.
Desirable:
* Degree BA/MSc in relevant subject
* Knowledge and understanding of the National Grid Electricity Transmission System and its operation.
* Knowledge and understanding of Control Room SCADA/IT Products & associated systems.
