**Liberty Marketing is a Cardiff-based Digital Marketing Agency. Our team is office-first hybrid however we will consider fully remote applications (UK only please) from exceptional candidates**
Reporting to the Head of Agency Performance (HoAP), the Head of Paid Media (HoPM) manages the day-to-day delivery of Liberty’s services within the PPC department and manages the resources of the department.
The HoPM will coordinate the PPC department of professionals, acting as a role model and leader.
Key to the role is effective people management. Alongside HoAP and Director of People and Culture (DoPC), the HoPM will be responsible for recruiting skilled personnel and developing those within, the PPC department. The HoPM will be responsible for developing talent within the PPC department and as such need to be able to encourage and motivate people, facilitate collaborative working practices, effectively delegate tasks, conduct performance reviews, and mentor individuals. The HoPM will focus on people's strengths and find opportunities to challenge, coach and nurture people.
The HoPM will be responsible for assigning new projects to members of the PPC department based on capacity and skillset and adapting the allocation of projects and tasks each month as needed. The HoPM will be responsible for signing off 90-day plans where needed and forecasted KPIs. Also responsible for tracking and monitoring KPIs and project deadlines to ensure expectations are met and/or exceeded. The HoPM will monitor the progress of projects ensuring they are resourced with appropriate budgets, skills, and personnel. The HoPM will also provide ad hoc consultancy, training and strategic guidance as required.
The HoPM will work closely with the Client Services Team to ensure the client’s expectations and project objectives are being appropriately set and more importantly, achieved. The HoPM will demonstrate results-focused leadership to the team and act as an escalation point for client service issues. The HoPM will provide insight to support Senior Managers and offer strategic guidance and support to set the overall direction of accounts and to guide the growth of the accounts assigned to the PPC department.
The HoPM will work closely with the wider management team to deliver integrated client projects. Together, the HoPM will be critical in ensuring quality and high standards from the PPC department by implementing our quality management system, following processes and procedures, authorising work, managing risks, and training new staff.
In relation to new business, the HoPM will lead PPC pitches, ensuring we understand and challenge the brief, act as a driving force on pitch preparation and delivery, from brief to pitch meeting, ensuring that the response is based on insight. The HoPM will also represent Liberty at events to raise Liberty’s profile and generate new business leads.

Core Responsibilities
Delivery / Client
* Ensuring all projects within the PPC department have clear targets/KPIs.
* Ensure the PPC department create realistic forecasts for projects within PPC and adjust as needed.
* Oversee and ultimately be accountable for the quality of the PPC department ’s outputs.
* Oversee Liberty’s service delivery, innovation, and development for the PPC department.
* Provide strategic direction and support for the accounts within the PPC department.
* Support the Client Services Team with client queries and convey the value of our work.
* Be the primary point of contact for escalation step in to assist on projects if an expert is needed and attend relevant client meetings where required.
* Organise and oversee freelancers when needed.
* Aspire to provide our marketing team with award-worthy case studies.
* Contributing to new business opportunities, providing cross and upsell opportunities monthly.
* Any other duties as reasonably requested from time to time.
People
* Ensure that the PPC department aligns with the Liberty values and competency framework (Accountable, Brave and Curious).
* Create and steer personal development plans for all direct reports.
* In conjunction with the HoAP and DoPC contribute to the creation of L&D strategy and plans for the PPC department.
* Provide training and development through mentoring and coaching.
* Escalation of performance management issues to HoAP and DoPC.
* Create a vibrant team culture, and monitor team satisfaction through our engagement survey.
* Report and monitor team member progress and communicate this with HoAP (people-based/performance issues).
* Conduct regular performance reviews of direct reports as per the Employee Review Policy.
* Liaise, collaborate and escalate with other leadership in the business to resolve issues.
* Lead on recruitment activity (in conjunction with DoPC) of new team members as required.
Governance
* Provide the PPC department with efficient processes, saving time wherever possible.
* Leading on process improvements and/or wider agency critical projects for the PPC department.
* Ensuring quality control is of the highest standard amongst the PPC department.
* Profit and Loss management across the PPC department and advising on how to improve.
* Monthly reporting to HoAP as required.
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 10 years PPC experience, and five years in an agency environment.
* Extensive experience of Paid Search and Paid Social including but not limited to the following platforms: Google Search, Display, Shopping, Programmatic, LinkedIn, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), X, Pinterest, Tik Tok and YouTube.
* A thorough understanding of digital marketing channels and digital marketing strategy.
* A track record of effectively collaborating with other digital marketing channels such as Organic Social, SEO, Content and Digital PR.
* A confident leader and role model with the ability to work under pressure.
* Demonstrable experience line managing and coaching a team is essential.
* Commercially astute and takes pride in creating, managing, and overseeing high-quality digital marketing projects.
* Strong interpersonal, decision making and delegation skills.
* A great communicator with excellent presentation and written and verbal communication.
* Confident in dealing with client issues.
* Proactive problem solver.
* Strong budget management skills.
* Flexibility to travel or work outside of regular office hours.
