A quick look at the role.
The SWaRF Site Manager is responsible for maintaining, developing and growing the site with regards to identifying and implementing new and best practices to provide a first class customer service and industry best in class, secure disposal offering.
One of the main responsibilities is to operate Biffa’s Secure Waste and Recycling Facility within the sites permit and planning controls to ensure that legislative requirements are met and to ensure the health and safety of all customers, site staff and contractors working on or visiting the site.

3. Striving for continual improvement in performance of the site and contracts to the advantage of the client and our business related to EBIT targets.
4. Developing long term strategic plans in conjunction with the Regional General Manager based upon the Division’s annual Business Plan, as well as managing day to day operations on a short terms basis.
5. Maintaining site permit requirements and other legislative requirements to ensure they are compliant and managed appropriately
6. Liaising with all regulating bodies (EA) and any local authorities to ensure compliance and maintain positive working relationships with the local area and populous
7. Identify and develop new business opportunities to add stakeholder value as well as driving down costs to improve EBIT without compromising on safety
The SWaRF Manager will have a hands-on role involving the use of many personal skills such as relationship management, negotiation and people management. There is a need for strict process and rules adherence with a true lead by example approach. The role is required to ensure that the material to be disposed which will be of a sensitive nature is do so with discipline, confidentiality and compliance to customer SLAs.
Requirements
Here’s what we require:
8. Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English
9. COTC 4MTSH (is desirable)
10. IOSH / NEBOSH (desirable)
11. Experience working in a transfer station, MRF or similar environment
12. Significant people and health & safety management
13. Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI’s
14. Profit and Loss experience
15. Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation environment.
16. Waste industry knowledge including relevant laws.
17. Commercial background
18. Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively
19. Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships
