Description
We seek a qualified food/health and safety EHO to conduct new premises and Category A-D food hygiene inspections, handle food/H&S complaints, and conduct RIDDOR investigations. Ideally, an experienced EHO would consider those with limited experience.

Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* Degree in Environmental Health or other relevant qualifications
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.

* Good interpersonal skills, an ability to quickly build trusted relationships, often in emotionally challenging situations, and respond calmly and de-escalate any conflict.
* An ability to understand and explain legislation, procedures, and requirements to others, improve compliance, and inform others of consequences and penalties for noncompliance.
* An ability to listen carefully to another’s point of view and influence their behaviour by sharing knowledge and outlining consequences.
* Good written communication skills, ability to clearly and accurately document activity and consequences in correspondence and evidence.
* Ability to assess the proper intervention based on the risk to the public of noncompliance with regulations. Ability to make quick-time decisions on achieving compliance and reducing risk.
* Ability to plan and manage workload to agreed targets and standards within an agreed timeframe.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision in the community and understand when and how to escalate risk.
* Ability to build close working relationships with various teams from inside and outside the council to deliver the service aims and objectives.
* Good IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. A willingness to use handheld technology to record information, undertake tasks, and respond to customers whilst working in the city. For roles in our food service, you will be fully supported in meeting the Food Standards Agency competency framework in the Food Law Code of Practice Guidance and be registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB)/ CIEH Register.
