About the job
This is a full-time role working within our Service Centre in Camberley.
You will be reporting to the Team Manager of High-Speed Separators and Decanters, you will be working as part of a team of talented Mechanical Fitter/ Balancers and working on the disassembly and re-assembly of a variety of rotating mechanical equipment, this extends to the balancing of critical components of our equipment to the standard expected of us as an OEM.
Our teams at Alfa Laval are versatile and flexible in terms of machine operation and using multiple machine tools will be expected.
At Camberley Service Centre, our experience in separation dates back 100 years, we cover a wide range of Alfa Laval equipment used in a variety of industries including Marine, Energy and Food and Water ( including waste water ) and because of this we can apply our knowledge and expertise to include All Brands.
The key roles include:
1. Stripping a variety of Decanters in preparation for inspection
2. Cleaning of equipment to service/repair, including jet washing and chemical cleaning
3. Dismantling and reassembling of gearboxes
4. Rebuilding equipment following guidelines
5. Use of technical drawings to assist in disassembly and re-assembly
6. Using a variety of standard hand tools (imperial & metric)
7. Using a variety of special tools (imperial & metric)
8. Handling medium to heavy duty equipment
9. Operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment
10. Understanding of Health and Safety and correct PPE demand
11. Building sub-assemblies for balancing
12. Balancing Bowls, conveyors and gearbox shells using dynamic balancing equipment
13. Use of welding equipment (TIG welding training given)
What you know
You have an appropriate apprenticeship or qualification in engineering.
You have experience of working with hand, Pneumatic and Hydraulic tools, from a background in a workshop environment, along with the ability to interpret drawings and technical manuals that include both Imperial & Metric dimensions.
You have demonstrated knowledge of a range of workshop related disciplines, and key understanding of PPE and H&S requirements typical of a workshop environment.
Experience of using cranes, slings and stacker trucks would also be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
You have good IT skills.
