How you'll make a difference
Working as an Occupational Therapist within the South Glos Reablement Service you will make a difference by enabling people to recognise their strengths and abilities, with an emphasis on people setting their own goals, and helping them achieve and maintain independence.
As part of the team you will work closely with assessing practitioners and the reablement providers to ensure independence is maximised for the individuals we work with.
Salary are offered at points within these bands depending on experience:
1. Occupational Therapist: £33, - £36,
2. Advanced Occupational Therapist: £38, – £41,

What will you be doing?
The main duties and responsibilities will include considering referrals to the Reablement Service and working with practitioners to ensure sufficient information has been provided and to encourage an approach that prevents, delays or minimises the need for longer term care.
3. You will support individuals to achieve their goals and adjust these where relevant.
4. You will consider ways to support the reablement workers to be effective in their interventions including using task analysis, different techniques and the provision of equipment, assistive technologies and housing adaptations.
5. You will hold a caseload with support and regular supervision, and work alongside colleagues in the locality teams to support their reablement referrals.
6. You will advise on ways of enhancing reablement outcomes including strategies, equipment and assistive technology, and training or signposting.
7. You will advise and inform Disabled People and their Carers about Services available, including services available under the Care Act. You will work within the 3 Conversations Model, utilising a strength based approach.
8. Be responsible to make important recommendations for a significant budget spend ensuring maximum value is delivered for the resources deployed.
9. You will develop and maintain close working relationships with the reablement provider
10. The role, you will require you to be a skilled communicator, including liaising and work with contacts from different sectors, including Health and voluntary.
As an Advanced Occupational Therapist, you will be required to:
11. support students on placement as an experience practitioner
12. be fully up to date with the core training expectations as an Advanced Occupational Therapist
13. examples of using research and evidence-based resources to enhance practice and share learning with team (e.g. use of Research in Practice / other online resources).
What we need from you
14. You will have a Professional Occupational Therapy Qualification, Dip COT, BSc Honours OT, (or equivalent), and demonstrate current State Registration and be registered with the Health Professionals Council
15. You will be able to demonstrate how your experience of working in a hospital or community setting or voluntary or agency providing Occupational Therapy Services is relevant to this post
16. You must prove that you can demonstrate theoretical and applied knowledge relating to Disabled People and their needs.
17. You should show your up to date and sound knowledge of all related legislation relevant to Social Services Occupational Therapy and legislation supporting this
18. You will have experience of managing complex cases and demonstrate that you can apply excellent assessment skills in practice.
19. You must be excellent at time management so that you are able to work efficiently to meet the service requirements.
Advanced Occupational Therapist:
20. We will require you to have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
21. You will have evidence of meeting the essential (and desirable where possible) criteria for the role of Advanced Occupational Therapist or in South Gloucestershire council.
22. A clear commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so must have a full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have alternative appropriate means of travel.
