Your Mission
In this role, you will navigate the complexities of the African FX market, including parallel exchange rates, requiring a strategic approach to relationship-building and market analysis. You will monitor and analyse emerging foreign exchange markets to inform trading strategies, while building and maintaining relationships with liquidity partners such as banks, brokers, and other entities
Your responsibilities in this role
* Navigating the complexities of the African FX market, which is often characterised by parallel exchange rates and requires a strategic approach to relationship-building and market insights.
* Monitor and analyse emerging foreign exchange markets to inform trading strategies.
* Build and maintain relationships with liquidity partners (banks, brokers and other entities)
* Execute and manage FX trades in accordance with company policies and risk management guidelines.
* Navigate both official and parallel African markets for accurate trading.
* Provide insights and forecasts on currency movements to support strategic decision-making.
* Implement and optimise trading algorithms to enhance efficiency and profitability.
* Maintain accurate trading records and prepare regular reports on trading performance.
Requirements
Must-Have Job Requirements
* Proven experience as an FX Trader, with a minimum of 3 years in the financial services industry.
* Proven experience in trading African currencies, with a deep understanding of both official and parallel markets.
* Experience in the African market, specifically with local banks and/or FX operations.
* Experience on the buy-side not just as a client on the sell-side.
* Skilled in navigating currency fluctuations, regulatory environments, and leveraging market trends to maximise trading opportunities.
* Strong understanding of financial instruments, market trends, and economic factors affecting currency movements.
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market signals.
* Familiarity with trading platforms and risk management tools.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Passion for innovation and commitment to the mission of enhancing economic opportunities for Africans.
Nice-to-Have Job Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
