Learning Support Assistant
Are you looking for a role where every day is different, and you can make a real impact on young lives? We're searching for a Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant Pupil Referral Unit in Littlehampton. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a great sense of humour, a flexible approach, and a genuine passion for working with children who need a little extra support.
Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (with a half-hour break)
Location: Littlehampton
Salary: Competitive (based on experience)
Lunch: Included - we encourage our staff to join the students during lunch to build positive relationships.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll be working in a nurturing environment designed for students who have struggled in mainstream settings. The children here can sometimes present challenging behaviours, including running out of lessons or lashing out physically. It's not always easy, but it's incredibly rewarding.
We're looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:
1. Has a good sense of humour and can engage in friendly banter.
2. Is easy-going and open-minded, able to adapt to the needs of each child.
3. Understands that these children may face significant emotional and behavioural challenges.
4. Can stay calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations with a smile.
5. Is comfortable being part of a team that supports each other every day.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting students in lessons, ensuring they feel included and can access the curriculum.
2. Building strong relationships with students, offering guidance, and de-escalating situations with patience.
3. Accompanying students on breaks and during lunch, fostering a positive school environment.
4. Working collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to meet the individual needs of the pupils.
Requirements:
1. Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential if you have the right attitude.
2. Must be able to drive (this is essential due to the nature of the role).
3. An open-minded approach and the ability to see the potential in every child.
4. MUST have at least GCSE Maths, English and Science.
We know it's a challenging role, but it's also incredibly fulfilling. As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll become an integral part of our close-knit team, helping to shape the futures of young people who need support the most.
