Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.
In Barnsley, we have a strong vision to make Barnsley the place of possibilities for all children, young people, and families. This means that our children can start their life well, can learn, develop new skills, and achieve their personal potential.
We are seeking a driven and child-focused individual to lead our brand-new short breaks team in Barnsley. This role sits within the children with disabilities service and involves management oversight of 4 short break support workers (this may grow), whose primary role is to undertake short break assessments, present at Barnsley’s short break panel, complete decision support tool checklists, support with the assessments, complete transition paperwork and referrals to adult social care and other services, and review short break packages. This is a new team; therefore, there will be considerable development work, and this will involve co-production with parents, carers, children, and services across the partnership. We are seeking a confident and creative thinker.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the short break team and advise on the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and quality assurance of related projects, training, programs, and systems.
2. Provide professional supervision, coaching, and mentoring to internal practitioners through a variety of mechanisms to effectively address any quality or safeguarding concerns.
3. Provide written reports and presentations as appropriate.
4. Report any safeguarding incidents or concerns immediately in line with Barnsley Safeguarding Children Board and Council policies and procedures.
5. Develop and implement whole system change in partnership through agreed programs in order to support service design.
6. Take an active role in statutory inspection events in associated functions and services, supporting developments in response to changes to inspection frameworks and associated guidance.
7. Support and advocate for the development of the service, taking an active role in developing this through effective collaboration and engagement with key stakeholders, including children and their families.
8. Ensure that services are cost-effective and budgets are accounted for, including the provision of monthly budget analysis reports outlining spend, variances, and projected outturns.
9. Build internal capacity to deliver appropriate and evidence-based practice, providing support in the interpretation of relevant statutory frameworks and guidance.
10. Demonstrate impact and outcomes in relation to children and families, using this alongside your specialist theoretical knowledge to ensure packages continue to reflect children and families' needs and legislative requirements.
What you will need:
* Professional qualification at Level 3 in a related discipline.
* Substantial relevant post-qualifying experience of working with children and families and multi-agency partners to deliver services.
* Experience of managing and directing staff and financial resources to meet targets and outcomes in a high-pressure environment.
