Job Role
To promote excellent practice standards and guide Care Practitioners in their implementation in order to achieve a better quality of care and life for our young people.
Lead, manage and support the homes and their Practitioners to demonstrate achievement of performance and activity targets embedding a culture of mindful and continuous improvement, ensuring any people and performance matters are speedily dealt with and practice and culture is continuously reviewed and challenged.
To provide leadership and management to Practitioners including seniors and/or deputy, demonstrating and supporting the culture and vision of Greenleaf.
Build strong relationships with statutory bodies such as Care Inspectorate. Build strong relationships with the local community: groups, businesses, education.
To be responsible for appropriate outcome measures, record-keeping and data analysis:
* maintain accurate and up to date records in accordance with Greenleaf policy
* monitor and analyse data about the homes to identify trends, take appropriate remedial action and devise solutions
* produce regular analysis of data about the homes
* report and communicate with business management team

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Residential Department:
* Develop Deputy Managers and/or Senior Practitioners to enable them to reach their full potential and achieve their job objectives
* To monitor and review Deputy Managers and/or Senior Practitioners’ performance, effecting improvement where possible
* Oversee the implementation of Operations, Health and Safety policies through the Care Practitioners.
* Support and enable the Deputy Manager and/or Senior Practitioner to promote and implement outstanding care practice
* Support staff in taking a mindful approach to develop and maintain good relations with key stakeholders
* Suggest appropriate improvements for the development of facilities
* To effectively manage the home budgets on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate spending of allowances.
Young People:
* Support the Deputy Manager and/or Senior Practitioner, ensuring that the Child Protection policy is always adhered to by members of staff and that correct procedures are followed for any incident.
* Ensure that the progress of all our young people is appropriately and effectively monitored, recorded and reported
* Ensure that regular and effective communication is developed and maintained between all key stakeholders
* Ensure that all our young people’s medical needs are met and monitored
* To contribute and participate in young people’s reviews, case conferences, support meetings, and other multi-disciplinary meetings
* Review trends in young people’s behaviour, with the aim of reducing incidents
Staffing:
* Act as a professional lead for your area, representing Greenleaf’s mission, vision and values
* Ensuring that outcomes measures are in place that demonstrate the effectiveness of the homes
* To supervise and appraise Deputy Manager and/or Senior RCP
* To comply with all job-related policies, procedures, regulations, and rules including the health and safety and welfare of our young people and colleagues
* To ensure that attendance to both mandatory and required training courses, including that of your staff, is met in order that skills, knowledge and competency levels are maintained in order to carry out the role efficiently and effectively
* Support the equality, diversity and rights of the young people and colleagues
* It is the responsibility of every member of staff to ensure compliance with health and safety at work legislation
* Ensure that all residential staff roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and that these are monitored and maintained
* To undertake other tasks as directed by the senior management and to always operate in a style that is consistent with the values and vision of Greenleaf
Managers will be part of an on call system where they offer on call support to their home when required Monday – Thursday. Managers will also be involved in a rotational on call system to cover weekends Friday – Sunday with fellow members of the senior staff team within their home or geographical areas.
Managers will be expected to work 40 hours per week to meet the needs of the service, normal working hours will be between 9am and 5pm. Managers will remain flexible to the service to offer support and assistance when required this may include evenings, nights, weekends and sleepovers.
The nature of residential work is varied and, in many instances, unpredictable. All Managers are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks that have not been covered in the job description have to be undertaken.

Essential Requirements
* Appropriate Registration with the SSSC must be completed within 4-6 months of start commencing in the post, if you are not already registered. And must be renewed annually.
* PVG must be supplied
* Excellent communication skills
* Understanding of IT
* Knowledge and understanding of the principles of teamwork
* Full manual UK driving license
Education
* SVQ 4 & HNC in Social Care or equivalent
* NVQ level 4 DipSW, CQSW, CSS, Management qualification or working towards.
Experience & Knowledge
* Significant residential care experience
* Experience of working within services of relevant client group
* Supervisory experience
* Wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of a myriad of intervention strategies.
* Working knowledge of legislation in relation to childcare including Health & Social Care Standards 2018, Children (Scotland) Act 1995, GIRFEC.
* Knowledge of the Policy and Procedures in relation to residential childcare.
* An understanding of the process of child development.
* Understanding the principles of safeguarding and child protection.
* Knowledge and understanding of the principles of teamwork.
