Job Introduction
This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. BBC Radio Solent has an exciting opportunity to lead our Dorset team, and further develop our relationships with the richly diverse communities of the county. Our Dorset Senior Content Producer leads and inspires our Dorset team to produce audio content for all broadcast platforms, including our Dorset Breakfast show.
Main Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for our Dorset team and its audio content output.
* Lead producer of our Dorset breakfast show.
* Develop creative ways of telling complex stories.
* Coordinate coverage with the news team and social content producers.
* Ensure our content reflects our diverse audiences.
* Establish and harness motivation in the team.
* Liaise with presenters and support them as required.
* Focus on quality over quantity of stories.
* Implement the BBC Local's strategy and the BBC's editorial policy.
Are you the right candidate?
* Experienced in working in a live radio broadcast environment.
* Resilience and ability to work under pressure.
* Sound editorial judgement and knowledge of the BBC's editorial and legal guidelines.
You'll also have:
* Understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality.
* A passion for audio content production.
* Strong track record in content and programme production.
* Significant experience in producing and delivering multiplatform content.
* Proven experience of leading and motivating a team.
