Job Description
To provide care and support to both adults and children with autism and or learning disabilities who exhibit a variety of behaviours that causes concern posing a range of physical and emotional challenges.
To manage support packages for service users with complex and challenging needs, provide support and supervision to other staff and deputise for the Assistant Managers as required.
Responsibilities
1. To deputise for the Assistant Managers as required and to provide managerial support for the unit and for all staff.
2. To provide direct support and Keywork service users who display behaviour that causes concern. Working as a team to manage the behaviour and to enable them to participate in a wide range of activities in the community to support social inclusion when required.
3. To uphold social work values and to ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety
4. To promote the independence and develop the skills of service users and assist with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences
5. To work positively with other agencies, parents, support workers, and other services to ensure a quality provision of care for service users
6. To ensure that the living environment of the service users is clean and appropriate to meet each individuals needs
7. To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to the needs of the service users and service
8. To ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are complied with
9. To be a BSS instructor and deliver training in line with restraint reduction network training standards
The Individual
10. Previous experience of working with people with a disability who display behaviour that causes concern.
11. Previous experience in a supervisory/Management role.
12. SVQ level 4 or a willingness to work towards this award or SVQ Level 4 leadership and management (CYP)
13. Good literacy and numeric skills.
14. Willingness to undertake further training as required
15. Evidence of continuing professional development
16. Registration with the SSSC once in post
17. Good Practical Skills
18. Good Observational Skills
19. Flexibility, empathy and approach-ability.
20. Ability to work as part of a team.
21. Experience of community participation
