The Pharmacy department is pleased to be able to offer a one year secondment within Paediatrics as part of Foundation to Advance Clinical Pharmacist Programme
This is an 18 month competency-based progression programme with incremental enhancement at 12 and 18 months. Pharmacists in the programme will work towards key objectives to transition from a post-registration foundation pharmacist (band 6) into an advance clinical pharmacist (band 7).
We welcome applications from experienced band 6 or 7 pharmacists; they will be aligned to the appropriate stage of the programme depending on experience. This unique programme has been designed to enhance your skills and experience across our diverse range of clinical specialities and you will be supported to complete a postgraduate certificate alongside other set objectives. To aid progression towards more senior specialised posts, attainment of a clinically enhanced pharmacist independent prescribing qualification is encouraged as an extension of the programme.
We are looking to appoint talented pharmacists who are self-directed, productive team-players and who are able to manage the busy responsibilities of this key NHS role.
Main duties of the job
University Hospitals Sussex has recently merged two legacy Trusts consisting of the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in the East and Worthing, St Richards and Southlands in the West.
This role will be based at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital.
The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital is host to tertiary paediatric gastroenterology, is a cystic fibrosis primary centre, a specialised respiratory centre and able to deliver paediatric oncology services. We have a HDU, surgical and medical inpatient wards along with outpatients and day case services.
We are looking for a pharmacist to join the Women and Children's team. Direct clinical responsibilities within the pharmacy team will be part of a discussion within the team, taking into account the demands of the service and interest and expertise of the member of staff.

Job responsibilities
1. You will be responsible for the delivery of expert patient care providing support to the lead pharmacists. This includes development, evaluation and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the UHSx Pharmacy strategy.
2. You will contribute to all aspects of clinical governance, including clinical risk and audit.
3. As a teaching hospital, education and training is an integral component of all roles encompassing practice supervision of undergraduates, pre-registration pharmacists and the line management and educational supervision of band 6 pharmacists as appropriate.
4. We encourage inter-professional learning and have been recognised for educational initiatives such as joint teaching activities with Foundation Doctors.
