The Role
The Senior Designer is an integral member of the Design Team reporting to the Senior Design Manager. You will support in leading and managing the team, have ownership of categories and projects to create style aware ranges in line with the brands design pillars. With a strong emphasis on commerciality and leveraging brand and evolving it to keep it relevant within the current and future market.
You Will
1. Lead in delivering two seasonal collections through the style aesthetic lens of Heritage & Vintage, Premium and Sportswear.
2. Ensure that brand appropriate products are delivered within the relevant seasonal time frames and the design & development critical path.
3. Update the Senior Design Manager and Head of Design & Development regularly on development and design progress.
4. Support the Senior Design Manager with Creating seasonal direction, in line with our product construct and brand pillars. Identifying and pitching up ideas.
5. Ensure in season creative projects are delivered in line with key business needs and priorities, working closely with business key stakeholders.
6. Work closely with Designers, Junior Designers and Assistant Designers to deliver against the seasonal visual range plan, in a focused and efficient way.
7. Actively drive product research to strategically pinpoint opportunities, driving innovation and sustainability goals.
8. Understand and identify consumer style, strategic positioning and target audience, aligning this to our brand and products.
9. Ensure design handwriting is consistent, branding, brand marks and prints are in line with our product construct principles and brand pillars.
10. Be responsible for supporting all aspects of the product design process to include market research, consumer research and managing your and any direct reports workload.
11. Have a varied product knowledge, supporting and leading the team across multiple categories and disciplines.
12. Oversee and prioritise the selection of fabric, trim and materials, in a focused and strategic way, in line with the critical path.
13. Effectively communicate and present design concepts and range presentations in a passionate, persuasive and compelling way.
14. Establish strong working relationships with regional offices, supply base and key business stakeholders – Product Strategy, Quality & Technical, Sourcing, Merchandising, Brand Creative and Channel owners.
15. Champion and uphold the house Design and Brand Standards, to clearly communicate information to suppliers.
16. Use your initiative to identify issues and problem solve, cutting through complexity.
17. Confidently conduct fittings and sample reviews.
18. Oversee any new silhouettes/shapes for your collection by liaising closely with QT.
19. Be able to travel independently to overseas suppliers to effectively manage development of styles or inspiration.
20. Manage any direct reports, holding regular 121 sessions to provide feedback, and agree priorities and discuss progress.
21. Support in upskilling team members, to support with their career progression.
You Are
22. University educated with a degree or have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in fashion or design industry.
23. An experienced Senior Designer with demonstratable experience of working in a similar senior management role within a clothing fashion brand or retailer.
24. Possess an in-depth knowledge across multiple categories, design techniques and processes, but also comfortable with working outside of their area of expertise.
25. Experienced or has the ability to manage, lead and mentor team members.
26. An excellent communicator and influencer from the ground up to exec level.
27. Interested in and have a great sense of style, culture, trend, colour, print and pattern.
28. An accomplished and experienced presenter.
29. An experienced negotiator and strong collaborator.
30. Super organized and able to work within strict seasonal timeframes.
31. Able to think strategically and problem solve in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
32. Flexible and able to adjust quickly but also lead through change to deliver to a deadline.
33. Able to prioritise multiple projects, while simultaneously handling demands and changes.
34. Confident in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat)
35. Confident in the use of PLM program systems.
