Job Opportunity: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Banbridge, Northern Ireland

A leading multi-disciplinary building services engineering contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team. This innovative, forward-thinking company, with offices across Northern Ireland, London, Birmingham, Glasgow, and the Republic of Ireland, serves a diverse range of sectors including residential, hospitality, education, commercial, and healthcare.
Role Overview: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will manage costs for mechanical and electrical building construction projects from design to completion. You will ensure the financial success of projects by controlling costs, managing monthly valuations, and handling variations and changes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the financial success of mechanical and electrical projects through cost control, monthly valuations, and variation management.
* Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, construction professionals, suppliers, and site staff.
* Maintain financial control of projects, including monthly valuations, job costing reviews, and final accounts.
* Ensure timely payments by following up on monthly valuations as per agreed contract conditions.
* Prepare and submit project documentation and correspondence within agreed timeframes.
* Report to the Commercial Manager and Managing Director.
* Review and approve contracts before signing, highlighting potential issues, assumptions, and caveats.
* Develop and implement robust processes and controls to increase efficiency and improve performance.
* Perform other duties as required to fulfill the role's requirements.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying.
* Working toward or qualified with RICS, CIOB, or ICES.
Experience and Knowledge:
Essential:
* Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a surveying role, preferably within a building construction environment.
* Exceptional IT literacy, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and cost value reporting procedures.
* Experience with JCT form of contract administration from both client and subcontractor perspectives.
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of commercial risks.
Desirable:
* 5 years of post-qualification experience in a surveying role, preferably within a building construction environment.
