We require a Practice Nurse to join our friendly, hardworking & capable Nursing team who provide patient care to our patient population.
Our practice is made up of a clinical team comprising 6 GP Partners, 9 Salaried GP's, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses & 2 Health Care Assistants. We also have a non clinical team compromised of the following; Operations Team (3), Reception Team (10), Admin Team (6) & Secretary Team (2). This post will sit within the Nursing Team and will provide care to 19,500 patients within Warwick.
Priory Medical Centre is a town centre located GP surgery housed in brand new purpose built premises. These new premises create a light, spacious environment for both patients & staff alike.
We are a teaching practice with a regular allocation of trainees, we also demonstrate strong performance in QOF, IIF, CQC reports, and have a good dashboard and funnel chart measures within our ICB area. We are also a forward thinking practice & like to develop and move forward.
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
2. Undertake Cytology
3. Wound care / ulcer care / Doppler
4. Undertake Travel Clinics and offer travel advice to patients
5. Complete Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
6. Conduct routine immunisations/childhood immunisations clinics
7. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
8. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
9. Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception
10. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
11. To assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate
12. To identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to patients health
13. As required, to provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.
14. To prescribe medication for patients in accordance with PGDs and own scope of practice
15. To delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately (ensuring safe practice and the task is within the scope of practice of the individual)
16. To support the clinical team with all safeguarding matters, in accordance with local and national policies
About us
Priory Medical Centre is a well-established Warwick GP Partnership with a list size of approximately 19,500 patients and one branch surgery. We have 6 GP Partners and a full complement of additional staff including Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants and administrative support. We are a recognised training practice for GP Registrars.
In June 2021, the practice moved into a brand new purpose built surgery designed with patient care in mind. The new building will be a modern, energy efficient & fit for purpose building that will enable the practice to provide better services to our patients. As a result of having the new facilities available, the practice closed the main Cape Road surgery, along with the Cape Road branch surgery. The new facilities will act as the main surgery, with a branch surgery still available to patients on Woodloes Park at the following address: 1 Brese Avenue, Woodloes Park, Warwick, CV34 5TS.

29. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
30. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
31. Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception
32. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
33. To support the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and to work to the IPC Policy supporting the implementation of audits, training, support and evidence of compliance to the Executive Director
34. To support the production of the IPC annual statement in conjunction with the Executive Director & IPC Lead
35. To assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate, incorporating evidence-based practice
36. To develop, implement and embed health promotion and wellbeing programmes
37. To identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to patients health
38. As required, to provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.

Secondary Responsibilities

47. Continually review clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiatives where appropriate
48. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach, root cause analysis (RCA)
49. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
50. Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
51. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
52. Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by the Lead Nurse, Operations Manager & Executive Director
53. Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
54. Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
55. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
56. A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
