Job summary
Schoolacre Surgery supports the health needs of approx 4k residents in our local community. We require a flexible Receptionist to support our existing team of receptionists. If you have excellent telephone and communication skills as well as being a good team player we would like to hear from you. Experience of SystmOne would be an advantage, however, training will be provided to the successful candidates. Flexibility is essential to cover for holidays and absence.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients, doctors, staff, colleagues, health service professionals and others. To act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis. To ensure that inquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the partners and patients.

HOURS:
Job Summary:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Job Responsibilities:
Administration
1. To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
2. To work in accordance of written protocols
3. Fax and photocopy as requested
Reception
4. Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team
5. Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
6. Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients, practice team, hospital and visitors or refer to appropriate person
Appointments
7. Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
8. Deal with visits requests
9. Ensure effectiveness of appointment system and monitoring flow of patients in the surgery.
Computer
10. Making full use of practice computer system taking into account protocols
11. Process repeat prescription request in accordance with practice guidelines.
Telephone
12. Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.
13. Answer the telephone and make calls as required in a polite manner, taking messages as necessary and as directed
Other Tasks
14. Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
15. Any other tasks allocated by managers

Qualifications
Essential
40. previous experience in a gp practice
41. Good education with good level of literacy skills
42. Desirable
43. Reception or customer care training
44. Telephone technique training
45. Windows-based IT training
46. Previous reception or clerical background
47. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
48. Computer literate in the use of a windows-based PC Keyboard skills Ability to cope with more than one task at a time and move between tasks as required
