Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer (Maternity Cover)
A leading company in the modular construction sector is seeking a temporary HSE Officer to join their team. This role involves providing comprehensive HSE support across various departments, ensuring safe practices and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Offer HSE advice and support to managers, supervisors, and colleagues.
2. Foster strong working relationships at all levels to promote a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
3. Develop and maintain safe systems of work (e.g., RAMS) and ensure their effective application.
4. Oversee contractor onboarding and evaluation processes.
5. Plan, review, and document emergency preparedness across all company sites.
6. Conduct and maintain HSE inspections and records for offices, sites, workshops, and equipment.
7. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including safety campaigns.
8. Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures.
9. Attend necessary meetings and collaborate with other staff members.
10. Ensure compliance with current HSE legislation and company policies.
11. Deliver regular toolbox talks and induction sessions.
12. Maintain high standards of work within the department.
13. Perform any other duties as required by management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
14. NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
15. Minimum of 5 years of proven HSE experience.
16. Experience in new build and M&E construction environments.
17. Proficiency in conducting health and safety audits.
18. Knowledge of lifting operations and associated hazards.
19. Ability to create RAMS for complex works.
20. Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and technical standards.
21. Experience in accident and incident investigation.
22. Excellent attention to detail, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
23. Ability to influence change and challenge non-compliance.
24. Capability to work under pressure and independently to meet targets.
25. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
26. Willingness to travel to various sites across the UK.
27. Full UK driving license.
