* Monday - Friday on site by 08:00am and leaving site at 16:00pm
* The working area of this role is local to Reading only
About the role
The Reactive Maintenance Team is looking for a multi-skilled plasterer to join our team carrying out external cyclical maintenance on our housing stock. This will include small patch repairs to full wall or ceiling, drylining, tacking, rendering and pebble dash and will also include redecoration, mould wash, ceramic tiling, coving, floor levelling and screed repairs.
This role will suit someone with the necessary skills in plastering and other skilled abilities. The candidate will be:
* Able to conduct works, in a safe and effective manner using schedule of rates and working to the Councils Pay and Productivity scheme.
* Assisting other trades within the property maintenance service with Reactive day to day repairs for Reading and Wokingham, but also Voids and Planned Maintenance when required.
* Managing van stock and assess works to ensure the right materials and time to complete a first-time fix.
* Working closely with colleagues, managers and other departments to produce efficient polite and professional service for our customers.
* A good communicator with building/decorating knowledge as well as other basic skills and be able to demonstrate relevant experience within the construction industry.
* Ability to work alone on own initiative with support from the team.
* Competent in using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) for job management, van stock, requesting annual leave, Health and Safety and property information.
You will be supplied a company vehicle, specialist tools, mobile phone/ PDA, and all other items that will allow you to perform to the highest standards.
About you
* You must be organized and able to solve problems quickly and effectively.
* You will be required to manage your own van stock and materials and therefore will need to work methodically and allow time within your day to order and collect materials/parts.
* Excellent communication skills in sometimes difficult circumstances.
* Skilled, highly motivated and keen to work in a fast moving and constantly evolving public sector.
* Full valid manual driving licence.
* Ideally a minimum of a full trade apprenticeship or hold a City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 qualification.
* Experience of workplace health and safety.
* Asbestos awareness training would be advantageous.
* Experience of working within the Social Housing sector (ideally).
