Our client is currently looking for experienced Automotive/Aviation Adhesive Bonding Technicians. If you have this experience, APPLY NOW!
Automotive/Aviation Adhesive Bonding Technician is a professional, who specialises in using adhesives to bond various components and materials in the manufacturing or repair of vehicles. This role is crucial in the automotive/aviation industry, where adhesives are used to join parts like metal, glass, plastic, and composites, often as an alternative to traditional mechanical fasteners like rivets, screws, or welding.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Application of Adhesives: The technician applies specialised adhesives to different parts of a vehicle during assembly or repair. This includes ensuring that the right type of adhesive is used for the materials being bonded, such as epoxy, polyurethane, or silicone-based adhesives.
2. Preparation and Surface Treatment: Before applying adhesives, the technician ensures that the surfaces to be bonded are properly prepared. This may involve cleaning, sanding, or priming surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion.
3. Curing and Setting: Many automotive adhesives require a curing process, either by heat, light, or chemical reaction. The technician ensures that the curing process is properly managed to achieve the desired bond strength and durability.
4. Quality Control: Technicians are responsible for inspecting adhesive bonds to ensure they meet safety and quality standards. They may use tools like testing equipment to measure the strength of the bond, ensuring it can withstand the stresses and conditions a vehicle will face during use.
5. Troubleshooting: In the case of bond failures, the technician may troubleshoot and determine the cause, whether it’s improper application, wrong adhesive choice, or poor surface preparation, and correct the issue.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Adhesive Technologies: Understanding the different types of adhesives and their properties, such as their curing times, temperature tolerance, and compatibility with different materials.
* Attention to Detail: Precision is critical in applying adhesives to ensure bonds are strong and durable.
* Technical Training: Many automotive adhesive bonding technicians receive specific training in adhesive bonding techniques, often through vocational schools or on-the-job training.
* Safety Awareness: Working with adhesives and chemicals requires an understanding of safety procedures to avoid hazards like fumes, skin contact, and environmental impacts
