Job overview
We are excited to offer a permanent full-time 7/8a Clinical Psychologist post to join our developing Learning Disability CAMHS community team. Whether you are newly qualified or have some experience in CAMHS or Learning Disability work, we are seeking someone passionate, innovative and creative, and in return you'll be supported to develop your clinical and specialist expertise and leadership skills.
The team provides a dedicated service for children and young people with learning disabilities, where there are concerns about their behaviour and/or mental health and consists of Nurses, Psychiatry and Psychology, a Behaviour Therapist and Support Workers. We work closely with multiple outside agencies such as schools, colleges and social care. Constantly seeking to improve the service we offer, there is scope for service-wide and professional development. As part of this, there will be opportunities to work across other teams and services within NSFT’s CFYP care group.
Main duties of the job
As well as delivering specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions with children, young people and their families, you will encourage and support the wider team members to provide psychologically based care, with a strong emphasis on multi-disciplinary team working, risk assessment, care planning and safeguarding. You will provide consultation and training to the team and external agencies and there will be opportunities to supervise assistant and trainee clinical psychologists.
The post-holder will also be involved in supporting the improvement processes taking place, in particular continuing to ensure parity of service with generic CAMHS whilst tailoring provision to meet the specific needs of our client population, for example leading the outcome measurement programme and contributing to our evidence base. There will be considerable scope to shape the role and develop your areas of specialist interest in line with NSFT / University of East Anglia research programmes.
Working for our organisation
Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.
Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you’ll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We’re an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In addition to assessment, treatment planning and delivery, this role will include supporting the team in developing their psychological skills and knowledge through providing consultation, leading and encouraging formulation, action planning and goal setting, and delivering supervision. Leading and monitoring service evaluation and development will play an important part of the job. The post holder will need excellent interdisciplinary working skills as there is a significant component of collaboration, teamwork and interagency liaison.
Experience of working within this specialism would be beneficial; however, we also welcome applications from clinicians with a strong interest in the area who are working in other specialities with key transferable skills (such as Adult LD or CAMHS).
We encourage interested applicants to contact Dr Sophie Hearne, Principal Psychologist on 07920 594088.
