An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Architect to join our Experimental Systems team within Experimental Engineering within the central Engineering & Technology division in Derby.
The Experimental Engineering department is responsible for acquiring new capability and modifications of test facilities around the world in support of rig, engine development and new engine production programmes.

It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
You will design systems that meet the business needs and expectations according to budgetary constraints from both business and technical perspectives. You will:
1. Be responsible for designing and implementing both the short and long term strategic goals for managing and maintaining the systems and software used in Rolls-Royce test facilities.
2. Work closely with our key suppliers to ensure that the IT & OT systems installed and used on our test facilities are fit for purpose and align with RR Group IT policies.
3. Verify: create, execute and maintain a verification plan for the system and provide substantiating evidence and reports.
4. Deploy: coordinate proper systems implementations and modifications to meet the objectives of the customer including process changes, documentation (manuals and calibration procedures) and training.
5. Operate: work with Test Execution, Test Facility and Equipment and Measurement Engineers to configure and maintain product and component testing arrangements.

6. Qualified to degree level in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
7. An ability to write concise, unambiguous requirements and specifications.
8. Proficient in one or more programming languages such as JAVA, C++, Python or SQL.
9. An appreciation and understanding of Cyber Security and associated standards.
10. Awareness of the latest capabilities and driving the use of standard tools and processes in the system arena.
11. Capable of gathering functional and non-functional requirements of systems, processes and business models.
12. Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, be self-motivated, able to work under pressure, as part of team, against demanding timescales, and manage both internal and external resources.
13. Experience in Dev Ops and Agile working practises is desired, however not essential.
