AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Managing millions of DNS queries, answering them in sub-x ms, building software that deploys to thousands of hosts, achieving 100% durability. These are just a few of the numbers that give you a sense of the scale of the exciting problems you will find every day working with Route 53 DNS Services at the AWS core.
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
The Route 53 team are looking for talented engineers who are motivated to solve complex challenges, yet are not constrained by “how things are usually done” and are willing to decompose and reinvent systems, processes and tools. You’ll be part of a world class team in a fast-paced environment that has the entrepreneurial feel of a start-up.
No prior cloud experience is required, but rather this is an opportunity to operate and engineer systems on a massive scale and gain top notch experience in cloud computing, learning AWS from the inside out!
We hire exceptional people and we recognise the importance of coaching others. Upon joining the Route 53 team, every employee is paired with a peer buddy who will help you to quickly come up to speed in understanding the technology we’re building, the tools we use and the business problems we’re trying to solve. We also have a formal mentor search application that lets you find a mentor that works best for you based on location, job family, and job level.

The team has the unique perspective of operating all DNS services. This enables our team to drive cross organization initiatives to remove operational hurdles, optimize software delivery, and remove bottle necks felt by all of AWS. Engineers on this diverse team enjoy diving deep into root causes of issues, automating manual tasks, and continually raising the bar to improve the customer experience.
