Specialist Occupational Therapist in Rheumatology & Hand Therapy
Band 6 Permanent Post
37 hours/ week (1WTE)
(3 days Rheumatology/ 2 days Hand Therapy)
A rare opportunity has arisen for an individual to provide specialist Occupational Therapy intervention in our Rheumatology and Hand Therapy service based within Ninewells Hospital. We are a busy teaching hospital providing a service to those with Inflammatory Arthritis, Connective Tissue Disease and Hand Therapy to both plastic and orthopaedic services within Tayside. The post holder will gain experience working in Rheumatology and Hand Therapy in a variety of specialist clinics with the support of experienced senior Occupational therapists and Physiotherapists.
The successful candidate will have a special interest in Rheumatology and Hand Therapy where they will be working within Ninewells Rheumatology outpatients, satellite clinics within Angus and the Hand Therapy Team in Ninewells. They will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and be expected to contribute to the development of the service. The candidate will have relevant experience working as an Occupational Therapist within physical rehabilitation and possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research. The department has strong links with universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
