On a day-to-day basis the successful candidate will be looking at the accuracy of our hydraulic models in the InfoWorks WS Pro software. Comparing models performance against live data and updating the models, so they represent real network condition to the best of our knowledge. Using network telemetry data, GIS, site drawings and liaising with operational teams to resolve models inaccuracies.Liaising with various stakeholders, including consultants to review and challenge model calibration submission.
Part of the job will be to undertake scenario-based analysis to determine what impact our activities have on the water network and our ability to supply water. Project work will consist of assessing impact of planned/unplanned asset outages (burst mains, outage of source, boosters, reservoirs), recommending best mitigations to minimise customer impact due to those outages, assessing impact of pressure transients and recommending network calming solutions, highlighting water quality risks, distribution network design (designing new mains or boosters), and recommending operational or capital investment.
