The Connected Talent Management System team, part of Global Talent Management & Compensation (GTMC) is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the engineering team in Edinburgh as part of a strategic investment to build technology that will enable Amazon to adopt the most scientific approach to talent management. Our team builds intelligent solutions that offer a consumer-grade user experience and uses science to manage performance of Amazon’s talent base of more than a million employees. Our engineering team’s scope includes but is not limited to user experience design, micro-service development, micro front-end development, big data engineering, and machine learning.
As a Software Developer, you will join a team of engineers to design and develop products and services that implement the Connected Talent Management team’s 3-year vision. If you are passionate about creating website architectures that scale at large and perform at high availability using native AWS technologies, this opportunity is for you. As part of this team, you will contribute to full stack software development and follow the agile software development lifecycle of design, development, documentation, and testing through launch to resolve ambiguous customer problems. You will collaborate within and across the organization to invent and simplify solutions to Amazon’s hardest problems on measuring, managing, and maintaining the performance of its workforce.

Key job responsibilities
1. Invent and develop a modern, mobile-first website experience and services using native AWS technologies.
2. Exert technical vision and build highly scalable, architecturally sound solutions that are aligned with business needs.
3. Contribute to defining and raising technical standards across the organization while working on Amazon’s hardest problems.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
2. Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
3. Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
4. Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
