Wise Employment are currently recruiting for a Development Chef for an established and successful food manufacturing company based in Callington, East Cornwall.
This is an on-site based permanent role on a Salary of up to £50k working Monday to Friday 830am to 5pm. This role also includes an excellent bonus package such as;

This is an instrumental role as a Development Chef to lead the culinary creation for products for a high end retailer where you will inspire to be the best. You will deliver New Product Development (NPD) of savoury products from concept through to launch phase in line with brand standard and brief directions.
You will explore new culinary opportunities and bring innovate products to life as well as brief the customer by means of proposals and presentations on the back of their requirements and briefs.
What your day will look like as a Development Chef
Within your department, you will be accountable and responsible for;
1. Leading the creation of new products from initial concept and ideation to food trial phase taking into consideration commercial constraints (manufacturing capabilities, costings)
2. Building really strong customer relationships to arrange and lead product submissions, providing samples to customers and adhering to brand standards
3. Proactively monitoring market, consumer and restaurant trends along with competitor activity to identify potential business opportunities and new market trend opportunities
4. Arranging and leading internal critical path meetings on behalf of your customers to ensure all key stakeholders have visibility and relevant information on active projects and products that ae being proposed to customers.
5. Managing projects and all relevant information on internal recipe management system using Recipe Professor. You will also need to accurately maintain NPD recipe files
6. Working closely with the total development team and innovation team to drive a quality culture and team spirit where people are inspired to perform
Experience required for a Development Chef:
To be successful you will need a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a chilled food manufacturing environment and ideally experience working for a high end retailer.
You will have a strong passion for creating and promoting food at all levels and have Food Manufacturing culinary experience as essential.
You will hold 706 1 / 2, NVQ2/3 or equivalent along with Food Hygiene and Allergy Training.
You will have recipe formulation understanding and experience and food sensory skills.
To be successful, you will also need to have strong presentation skills along with report writing and computer skills.
