Role SummaryImaging AssistantMoney and MedalsFull-time (41 hours per week)Fixed term (23 months)£28,144 per annumApplication deadline: 12pm (midday) on 10 January 2025About the role:To produce digital images (either by scanning or photography) of money and medals objects, to process images, match them to MI+ collections management database records, and upload them to the Museum’s image asset management system.Key areas of responsibility:To produce record standard digital images, using scanners or static photography set-up of the money and medals collection of c.800,000 objectsTo process images including, where appropriate, standardising backgrounds, pairing obverse and reverse files using established automated batch processes.To ensure images are labelled with their MI+ PRN to enable bulk upload to the asset databaseTo identify any issues with the MI+ records of the imaged objects and to work with curators and other staff to correct problemsAbout you:A levels (or equivalent)Experience of and expertise in collections management databases and Adobe Photoshop.Confident user of digital cameras and scanners.Ability to instruct others in photographic processes.About the British Museum: Founded in 1753, the British Museum’s remarkable collection spans over two million years of human history and culture.
