We are building a team of support workers and are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated support workers to provide support and assistance to a young man with cerebral palsy.
The primary responsibility of the role is to support him with his programme of therapeutic, educational, and fun activities and provide personal care to enhance his overall independence and wellbeing.
We are looking for compassionate, empathetic, and patient support workers who approach work with enthusiasm and energy.
The ideal applicant should have a proactive approach to planning, strong communication skills, and sensitivity while working within the client’s home.
Working hours:
Typically 6-8 hour shifts between the hours of 7.30am and 8.15pm
Mixture of 1:1 and 2:1 provision
This is currently a fixed term position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
Working Conditions:
* Availability for weekday, evening, and/or weekend work
* Occasional overnight sleep-in support may be required
* Ability to provide support during client holidays, including both domestic and international travel, with reasonable notice
* This role involves a combination of in-home and community-based settings
Rates of pay:
Probationary Period Rates:
£16 per hour weekdays
£18 per hour weekends
Monday-Friday:
£18.00 per hour
£11.45 per hour (Nights)
Saturday-Sunday:
£20.00 per hour
£12.45 per hour (Nights)
Requirements:
* Learning Disability qualifications is desirable
* NVQ Level 3 / 4 Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable
* Current full and clean driving licence is essential
* Ability to participate in induction, training, supervision, and appraisal
* Evidence of ability to manage a care team
* Basic education with good written and verbal communication skills
* Right to work in the UK
* Excellent references and satisfactory DBS checks
Experience:
* Previous experience as a support worker within someone’s home
* Previous experience of driving a wheelchair accessible vehicle
* Experience working with individuals with cerebral palsy or similar conditions is preferred
* Experience and/or a strong interest in working closely with a team of therapists and incorporating therapeutic strategies into day-to-day support to the client
* Familiarity with personal care tasks and therapeutic interventions
* Familiarity with communication strategies such as Makaton and/or assistive communication aids.
* Experience in positive behaviour support approaches

* Be able to adapt to the individuals’ changing needs and abilities
* Flexibility in availability to accommodate changing requirements
* Ability to assist with mobility, lifting, and other physical tasks as needed
* Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and patience in interactions
