Under the supervision of the ATF Foreman, you will ensure the commercial operation of the ATF LGV Test Centre and maximise the operational use of the test lane. Additionally, you will manage the Tachograph calibration bay, overseeing its commercial operation and performing installations and recalibrations of Tachograph units.
This position will be both varied and busy as you will be involved in managing the reception area together with completing all customer service administration.
RESPONSIBILITES
* Undertake the installation of/recalibration of Tachograph units, both analogue and digital, (preferred, but training provided to the right candidate)
* Providing general administration for the workshop and assist with other workshop activities as and when required.
* Ensuring all customer expectations are met and exceeded by carrying out all work in line with their requirements, with any additional work authorised by the customer.
* Maximising ATF Inspectors’ efficiency via controlled management of the workshop booking diary, planning and managing workload, updating and closing job cards with notes and explanations added to ensure full understanding of the expenditure.
* Ensuring vehicles are present prior to scheduled MOT time slots, efficient operation of test bay/commercial use of ATF Inspector.
* Ensure preparation of vehicles undertaking MOT tests to ATF Inspectors’ requirements, allowing the test to be undertaken as quickly and efficiently as possible (including but not limited to loading/unloading of test weights onto vehicles via forklift truck, minor adjustments to lights, any other minor items/adjustments required and undertaking voluntary brake and light tests).
* Ensure effective cost control by using the best purchasing practices when ordering parts and managing all returns are dealt with in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
* Holder of Class B driving licence essential; class C+E would be desirable.
* Experience in vocational assessments (formal assessment qualification preferred).
* Experience in installation of/re-calibration of Tachograph units, both analogue and digital, (preferred, but training can be provided for ideal candidate)
* IT skills in excel and word.
* Forklift truck operator/license holder (training can be provided).
* Experience of working with third party suppliers such as garages, suppliers, insurance companies and licensing bodies.
* Demonstrate knowledge of the repair of ancillary equipment, electrical systems and basic fabrication.
LOCATION AND CONDITIONS
This role is based at our Halifax ATF Depot, with standard working hours from Monday to Friday 07:30 to 16:30. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business demands. You’ll receive 28 days of holiday each year, including Bank Holidays and contributions to the company pension scheme are available, subject to certain conditions.
