Role Purpose
The primary function of this role is to provide care and support to a young lady, ensuring that she is stimulated and supervised at all times. The role is not just about personal care but providing her with company and ensuring her socialisation and sensory needs are met. The role is to work as part of a wider team to ensure the lady remains as safe and independent as possible.
Person Specification
We’re looking for someone who can provide support, attention and care. A friendly and patient person, who will talk to her, (although she may not talk back) sing, and support her personal care. She suffers with White Sutton Syndrome and Autism. She has a limited attention span, so keeping her entertained requires an understanding of short bursts of activities.
We are looking for someone who may have experience of the following:
Peg/NG tube feeding (training will be provided)
Experience dealing with Autism, and repetitive behaviour
Providing personal care, washing, bathing etc.
Keeping records - documentation of feeds, water and medicine administered
Dealing with difficult or challenging behaviour – (Physical Intervention training will be provided)
Medication administration
The role
The completion of all MARS sheets
Documentation of deliveries of medication and the ordering of all medication
Completion of medical records, the storing of medical documents in the appropriate folders
The sharing and booking in the diary of all medical appointments
Attending medical appointments
Working in hospital to support if stay’s or visits are required
She needs patience and understanding and someone who is able to support her with her communication.This young lady forms lasting bonds with people, it may take time for her to adjust to someone but she is very responsive, loving and sometimes mischievous with those she knows well, making this a very rewarding role!
