The Renal Research Nurse will be an integral part of the renal team supporting the development of a seamless research team across the department. They will have renal knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and legal frameworks related to the planning and undertaking of clinical research and act as a resource for staff, researchers, research participants, and patients alike.
Main duties of the job
1. They will take a lead in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of a designated number of clinical research studies.
2. The Clinical Trials Nurse (CTN) takes responsibility and is accountable for delegated Clinical Trials /Research activity within the Renal Team.
3. The CTN will work as part of the larger research team to develop and deliver recruitment targets and strategies to meet these.
4. The post holder will be a flexible, motivated team player and will have a good understanding of clinical trials and research generally.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Education and Training
* Degree or evidence working towards it.
* Professional Registration.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Experience & Knowledge
* Demonstrable post registration experience for professional.
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within an acute hospital environment.
* Knowledge of Data Protection Act 1984, GDPR and Caldicott Principles.
* Clinical Research experience.
* Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
Skills and Ability
* Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and use own initiative.
* IT skills: MS Office and other database.
* Experience in Venepuncture.
* Broad range of clinical nursing skills.
* Experience in working in the NHS.
