Senior IT Engineer - £36,400/£39,200 - Grimsby
Principal IT are working with a college based in Grimsby who are looking for a senior IT engineer to join their team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting their future strategy. They are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves troubleshooting, and has a passion for IT that extends beyond the screen.
You'll be supporting the IT manager in the installation, upgrade, support, and maintenance of the college's IT systems, network, and services. To provide outstanding IT and network support for both the teaching & learning, and service & support areas of the college. To contribute to IT projects and deputise for the IT Manager when required. Resolve IT issues escalated by the other members of the Tech Team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support and maintain the College's physical and virtual servers (VMWare).
2. Manage systems using configuration tools, including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Intune, and Group Policy.
3. Provide 3rd line support and act as an escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by other members of the Tech Team.
4. Support the development, planning, and implementation of IT-related projects, including modernising current network services and migration to cloud services.
5. Administration and troubleshooting of Cloud systems, such as Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
6. Ensure that critical security updates and firmware are applied to all Operating Systems, Software, and Devices in the required timeframe.
7. Maintain and implement Firewall rules and web filtering policies. Configure network devices, including TCP/IP and VLAN.
8. Take a lead role in setting up, configuring, and maintaining the College's 360 Immersive classroom and content.
Requirements:
1. Experience of supporting and implementing network infrastructure.
2. Working knowledge of Windows Server Operating systems, Active Directory, Exchange Server, PowerShell, and Group Policy.
3. Experience of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (Previously SCCM), Intune device management, and Entra ID.
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11 Deployment, patching, and troubleshooting.
5. Experience of online systems e.g. Google Classroom or Microsoft 365.
The Package:
If successful, our client is offering a salary of between £36,400 and £39,200.
Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
